Chancellor update on federal actions
by Green & Gold News |
Dear UAA Community,
During federal government transitions, policy, process and communication changes from federal agencies are expected and common. We understand that change brings varying levels of uncertainty and concern.
Though governmental changes occur at every level, I want to reaffirm that UAA remains committed to being an open access university, welcoming and available to all. We will continue to affirm the dignity and worth of every human being. Our mission and vision are to provide life-changing academic pathways for our students to meaningful work and careers, which remains our top priority.
Because recent federal announcements around federal funding for university grants and research, Title IX, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and other relevant areas require us to adapt, UAA will be vigilant and adaptable to ensure support for all students, faculty and staff. UAA leadership is working collaboratively with the University of Alaska System and the university鈥檚 legal team to monitor the continuing changes and review the executive orders to determine any necessary changes to policy. We appreciate your patience as we carefully analyze and understand the breadth of these federal actions to ensure we are delivering accurate information to you.
For the latest information on federal grant funding, please visit on the UA Office of Government Relations website. Additional resources are available on the website.
If you are a student or employee feeling stressed, anxious or uncertain in these times, support is available through the UAA Student Health and Counseling Center. Students can also reach out to the Dean of Students Care Team. Employees can access various tools and resources through on their Employee Support page.
UAA is steadfast in our mission to welcome and support students from all backgrounds and beliefs. We will continue working together to support them in achieving success on their academic journey. We are dedicated to maintaining our campuses as welcoming places for all to live, work and learn. Our commitment to you remains unwavering, and we will continue to prioritize the well-being of all students and employees as we always have.
Sincerely,
Sean Parnell
UAA Chancellor
