Message from the Dean - Fall 2021
Dear College of Engineering Community,
Welcome! At UAA's College of Engineering, our mission is to educate and inspire, and explore innovative solutions that engage Alaska and beyond.
For prospective undergraduate students, we have a slate of accredited engineering programs, which means the curriculum meets standards expected by industry. These programs include Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Geomatics. We also have a certificate program in Geographical Information Systems and an associate degree in Geomatics. Our graduates are also in high demand, with approximately 80% employed in Alaska within a year of graduation with an average 5th year salary of about $100K!
For prospective graduate students, we offer advanced Master's degrees in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Project Management, with a proposed degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Engineering. We also offer a graduate certificate in Project Management. These programs prepare students for advanced technical work in industry or to conduct specialized research.
For aspiring engineers, we offer summer camps, tours of our facility, lectures, competitions, and other outreach activities. To learn more visit our K-12 Outreach page.
Finally, for industry professionals and community members, we take great pride in working together. This could mean matching students to internships and job opportunities, or supervising a team of students on a capstone project to develop an engineering solution to a challenge faced by a company or community organization. We also collaborate on applied research to address challenges, whether it be something as large as understanding the impact of climate change, or a specific challenge in the community such as the design of an intersection in town.
We are here for you! Please reach out with any questions or input.
