What is Summer Bridge?

The TRIO Student Support Services Summer Bridge Program is a five-week 花季传媒 designed to help incoming first-year students successfully transition to college. As part of our Summer Bridge program, you become part of an exclusive and supportive student community guided by the TRIO Student Support Services staff and a team of dedicated peer mentors. This unique program provides academic support, campus familiarization, and social activities, ensuring you鈥檙e fully prepared for the challenges and opportunities of university life. In Summer Bridge, you鈥檒l build foundational college success skills to prepare you for academic success and EARN COLLEGE CREDIT while doing it. Outside of the classroom, our extracurricular activities give you the chance to connect with fellow incoming students, bond with your peers, and form lasting friendships. Participating in the Summer Bridge Program is your opportunity to get a head start on college life, gain valuable insights, and take that first step toward becoming a successful and confident college student.     Dedicated courses in College Writing and College Success. Credits apply to your degree progress.

    Learn about all of the services and resources that promote student success and a positive college 花季传媒.

  • Learn to Navigate UAA

    Familiarize yourself with new online platforms, including student accounts, course registration, degree tracking, and classroom learning management systems. Learn to navigate the classroom and campus environments.  

  • Join a Community Committed to Academic Success

    The professional TRIO SSS staff, peer mentors, and student learning cohorts form a community of acceptance and support committed to helping all of our students win at college.

How can I be a part of Summer Bridge?

TRIO SSS only accepts up to 25 students in Summer Bridge. If you want to be part of Summer Bridge Program, you need to demonstrate commitment, initiative, and follow-through. However, the process is step-by-step and TRIO SSS staff will be here to support you every step of the way. The following steps must be completed to determine eligibility in Summer Bridge.

  1. Apply and be accepted to UAA for FALL 2025 semester
    • Students must apply and be accepted to a Bachelor's Degree program
  3. Schedule an in-person appointment with a TRIO SSS advisor (details will be sent to you via email from TRIO SSS after you submit your TRIO SSS application)
  4. Complete the TRIO SSS College Readiness Assessment (staff will provide this via email after you submit your TRIO SSS application)
  5. Complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA
  6. Complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA
  7. Complete the
  8. Complete the UAA Writing sample placement
  9. Complete a TRIO SSS medical release - accepted students only
